Fantastic winter games!
These days it feels good to be from Sweden! I’m of course talking about the fantastic performances in Vancouver! Just finished watching the mens relay, wow!
Updates on XCStorm development
We’ve been working on a new version of XCStorm (2.0!) for some time but it’s not until now we’ve got started “for real”.

Exciting times for XC1!
XC1 Group is doing a lot of exciting stuff atm! This weekend I’m (Anders) going to Åre to visit Pär and to discuss some of our upcoming projects.
The upcoming olympics will completly destroy my freelancing and school, too… much… sports! Three of our clients are going to compete (Anna Haag, Emil Jönsson & Ida Ingemarsdotter) and we’ve got a good feeling they’ll...

Pimp my feeds - XCStorm
We’ve just updated the layout of our feeds at http://www.xcstorm.com/rss/ and the country-feeds.
You can now see the source-image and a direct link to the source, imo much better. Too bad we did it with tables, we will change it so it uses XSLT later.
Conclusion of 2009 - XCStorm
2009
XCStorm has increased it’s visitors to about 400 unique/day. I think it’s about time to redesign and hopefully get better structure as the items increases (since we add more sources). We published more than 16 000 (16 401) items this year.
The majority of visitors are still from Sweden, but we’re getting more and more from Norway.
Later in 2009 we added a...

XCStorm-feedback, now for english users
Thanks to Björn Lilja I’ve found the english version of Kundo as well.
So please, give us some feedback and we will try make XCStorm even better (although it’s kind of awesome today).
[Swedish users] Please help us improve XCStorm
Hello everyone!
I’ve just added a feature to help us improve XCStorm, it’s currently only available to swedish users. If you’re using the http://www.xcstorm.com/se/ site, take a look in the right for the “Tyck till”-button.
Thanks in advance!

It’s been quite some time since I my last post!
Here’s some updates on what’s going on:
Working on a new Feed-reader for XCStorm, I’m gonna use the new sparkling Zend_Feed_Reader. Hopefully that will solve my problems with doubleparsing some of the RDF-feeds.
Started working on a project that involved a webshop, the client also wanted a simple-to-use UI like the one...

Dive into Wordpress: Q&A
I’ve spent the last couple of days/weeks doing some work in Wordpress. Since I’ve had a lot of questions myself and spent quite some time Googling these, I could as well post them here.
How do I debug SQL-queries? Including listing all queries.
My first thought was to use the get_num_queries(), but that couldn’t be done. So I found the plugin Debug Queries
How do I make...
If Operating Systems Ran The Airlines
Here’s part two of “airlines”!
UNIX Airways Everyone brings one piece of the plane along when they come to the airport. They all go out on the runway and put the plane together piece by piece, arguing non-stop about what kind of plane they are supposed to be building. Air DOS Everybody pushes the airplane until it glides, then they jump on and let the plane coast until it...
If Programming Languages ran the Airlines
PL/1 Mainframe Air: You arrive at the airport. It’s not really an airport, but actually an old wooden building next to the river. You ask why there isn’t a real airport. A very old man answers you that they have been building with wood ever since the beginning of construction, so it must be good. You ask where you can check in and when your plane leaves, but you are answered that...

Scouring the internet
Doesn’t have much to tell atm. because my studyperiod have just started. So most of the development stands still.
But since I’m always scouring the internet for “useful” stuff, so here’s some of my latest findings:

"Nuclear launch detected"
We just launched Daniel Tynells new homepage. It’s built with Wordpress, most commonly known for uses in blogs. Still, it’s great as CMS as well.
Yes, we are aware of the tagsoup in the markup. It’s on the TODO:list. We’re also making some minor adjustments to the layout soon.

Yesterday I released the new version of http://hassis.com. Actually I’m quite happy with how this one turned out!
Riding Rails
Since my last post I’ve been digging into Ruby On Rails. I also mentioned that we’ve started using a system to keep track of our tasks/bugs. My first real project in RoR is going to build my own time management software. Wish me luck :)

I’d just like to post some updates about what’s going on.
We’ve just “released” Forneman Sportpartner AB, it’s far from finished, but you can see what direction we’re taking.
I introduced a “Task management“-system for XC1, it was about time we got some structure. One of the best part is it’s function to keep track of time.
I choose...

Long time no seen
Merry christmas everyone! It’s been a while since our last post. At the moment, I’m enjoying a well-earned holiday in Orsa.
We’re doing some changes at the site, it’s gonna be messy for a while. But the basic features should be fully functional. I’ll let you folks know when we’ve sorted things up a little.
Finally!
I’ll let the site speak. http://www.nordictrade.se
It was released this morning and I’m gonna celebrate with a nice dinner tonigt.

Next weekend I’m going home (or?) to Orsa to work as instructor in Hassis Skidskola. Probably one of the best jobs in the world, do something you love and get paid for it!
The visitors over at XCStorm just keeps going up! We peaked 350 unique yesterday.
By the way, I just added a new “filtering-level” named “Organisations”.
It takes two flints to make a fire.
I’m having some trouble finding nordic-skiers who aren’t swedish. If you know anyone who’s “serious” with their skiing and have a homepage, please write to us.
The “nationality-stats” for the publishers in my area: 32 swedish, 10 norweigan and 1 from finland.
We’ve also begun translating the page to norweigan, would love to have someone to correct...

Finally! After a lot of talk, the filtering function has arrived. Check the sidebar for the “Filter”-headline.
Enjoy and report bugs through “Contact”.
There's no substitute for hard work
Just added Team Nordicski to the crawler. I love it when people makes an effort in creating something outside the ordinary blog-hype.
It looks more serious, and that’s one of the two things I go for when I add someone/something; serious and senior.
So please, try to make your blog/website look something out of the ordinary, and maybe get your own domain and try to move away from the free...
Evolving
We’ve set up a temporary dev-site over here, to be able to test new features before using them in production. Everything you see there is work in progress.
Tomorrow I have a new meeting with a new client, we’ll see if it’s going to be a XC1 Group-work or something I do on my own. Pär is going on vacation on friday, so I have to enjoy myself somehow, right?
Blurp
Just added a pair of brothers to the crawler, Daniel Tynell and Rikard Tynell.
Much Todo About Nothing
Yesterday the team had a meeting and wrote a TODO for upcoming projects. Doesn’t work to have it all in our heads…
Our statistic keep going upward! Thanks everyone for spreading the word about XCStorm.

Latest from Youtube
I’ve just added a function to the (long forgotten) video section at XCStorm. Have a look! http://www.xcstorm.com/se/video/
It checks for the latest videos tagged with ‘cross-country-skiing’.

"Advertising is the 'wonder' in Wonder Bread."
Finally, after a long nights work!
For those of you who can read Swedish, read about advertising at XCStorm.
Failboat has arrived?
It’s become quite a mess in the crawlerlist. It feels like it’s too many sources, we’re working on a AJAX-solution to filter the sources directly from the frontpage (and subpages).
Also, if you have any idea for “criterias” to be fullfilled before you’re added to the crawler, please tell me!
I’ve just added Team Sundklakk and Olle Sjöström to the...

Advertising
I tried to set up a document about the advertising-possibilites at XCStorm. Having big trouble illustrating where the ad-positions are. Stupid layout.
Well, I will post again when they’re done.
Zend Framework 1.7 Preview
Today I tried the new preview release of Zend Framework (the framework the site runs on), noticed some weird things going on in my custom Controller-classes.
Over a few weeks I’ve also noticed that Feedburner (the feed aggregator we’re using) always is late with our feeds. Tried to use XML-RPC to ping Feedburner, didn’t work as I thought :(
Blog open
Yay us!
Why use tumblr instead of the XCStorm-webpage?
Simple, if the XCStorm breaks down, we’ll still be able to have a channel to communicate with our visitors.
